Catchin’ for
Kids is a grass roots organization formed, and still run, by an all
volunteer staff.
Our mission is simple. We believe every child should have a reason to
smile on Christmas morning. It’s our job to make that happen.
One of our primary goals is to collect new, unwrapped toys, as well as
monetary donations during October, November and December each year.
Towards that end, the Catchin’ for Kids Rockfish Tournament takes
place each year during the striped bass fall-winter season. The
tournament helps to collect toys and donations for needy children in
our community.
In the last eight years we have been one of the largest contributors to
the Marine Corps TOYS FOR TOTS program in Hampton Roads. We help
thousands of kids smile on Christmas morning, and we help many other
families and children with toys and school supplies.
In addition, in 2007 Catchin’ for Kids began running the annual
Anglers Club Challenge each August. That Summer event helps us to raise
awareness of our fall-winter program, as well as of our organization
and our mission.
